Even the foot of the bowl is decorated with delicate floral motifs. It's remarkable to think that this object has withstood the test of time, originating from the early 18th century. Interestingly, at least in my eyes, it shares a striking resemblance to the "mod" floral patterns of Marimekko, the renowned Finnish design house. ????

While it exudes a modern vibe, these plates are examples of ko-imari** (old Imari) ware. In contrast to later Imari's multicolored and calcified patterns, ko-imari stands out for its refinement and elegance. These early examples are highly sought after and desirable among connoisseurs.
